Summer Camp 2020

Online Summer Camp

LBMP’s musical theater summer camps promote appreciation of music, dance, and performance while maintaining an atmosphere of fun. Our online version of camp will take place on Zoom and will include singing, dancing, and acting activities geared specifically for this online setting. Class will be led by Linda and one additional music instructor. Each week will consist of a 90-minute Zoom class for five days in a row. All children ages 5-12 are welcome to join.

What to expect from online summer camp:

  • During camp, your child will be singing and dancing to music, so make sure they are set up in a place where it’s ok for them to sing out loud and have the volume all the way up on their device.
  • Find a space where your child has some room to move around. We understand that everyone’s living space is unique, and this might mean something different for everyone. Just make sure there aren’t any fragile objects or sharp corners nearby
  • Download the Zoom.us app and create a login ahead of time.
  • We recommend using Zoom on a laptop or iPad for these classes, to allow your child to see the teacher on a larger screen. But phones will also work!
  • Whatever device you decide to use, try to find a setup that allows for most of your child’s body to be seen by the camera. We will be able to provide better movement instruction if your child’s full body (or most of it) is visible on the screen.
  • We recommend adult supervision while your child first logs into class. Once class begins, adult supervision will no longer be needed. Though if you’d like to be in the same room as your child and observe class, you’re welcome to.
  • Normally we request that students wear jazz shoes during our musical theater camps, but for online camp, wear whatever is most comfortable on your feet. If you’re on a slippery floor, we recommend bare feet or any shoes that will prevent you from slipping.

Our first few weeks of online camp have been going very well and the children have been enjoying them very much.

“Wow the kids love this. Linda and her singing partner are wonderful!”

Testimonials:

"My granddaughters attended your camp 2 weeks ago and were part of your Peter Pan production. I have to tell you how much their parents and I enjoyed the production. All the children were delightful, and we were amazed that you were able to teach them so much in just 5 days."
- Grandmother

"Cora was absolutely glowing when she came home yesterday and promptly sang me the goat herder song. Thanks so much for providing this experience for our children."
- A Happy Mom

"You know, I love what you're doing with the kids and just really see how great it makes them feel to be up there on stage and wish more parents would take their kids to the theater, especially to see other kids their age perform, it is inspiring. I think it is all just such a great experience all around on so many levels. I also love that you always have live musicians, make the costumes and the sets. It is so different from the "canned" experiences most kids have today of store-bought Halloween, Disney, etc. I would really like to see you keep doing what you do and thus want to support it!"
- Judy, a satisfied Mother
